Upon arriving at college, he became the first Paladin to be awarded 4 consecutive All-Conference honors in cross-country. His senior year he lead his team to its first NCAA berth in cross-country since 1973. He was the first Furman runner to qualify for the NCAA track meet when he qualified in the 3000m steeplechase with a then personal record of 8:44 in 2014. He again qualified in 2015 with a personal record of 8:41. In 2015 he qualified for his first USATF National Championships, finishing 18th in the country after a long collegiate season. Tripp joined Team Run Eugene in the summer of 2015 following his career with Furman. He joins TRE ready to hone his steeple skills for the summer of 2016.
