While there hasn’t been a ton of racing for us these past two weeks (a big portion of the team is preparing for the Portland Track Festival next weekend), those who did compete definitely brought plenty of action to the track and roads.  We’ve covered the main highlights below!

Soldier Field 10 Mile, 5/28/16 @ Chicago, IL

Dan Kremske competed in the Soldier Field 10M race last weekend in Chicago.  Running a strong and consistent race, Dan finished 2nd overall in a close finish.  He was just 9 seconds behind the winner, and was nearly 2.5 minutes ahead of 3rd place.  His final time was 49:47—a great race for him.

Adrian Martinez Classic, 6/2/16 @ Concord, MA

We had a small group travel to Concord, MA for what is known as “a track meet like no other,” partially because of the inclusion of open community races and Unified races in between the Elite races.  Our highlights came from the elite men’s Adro Mile, where Eric Avila and Tripp Hurt both ran great races.  The pacer got out quickly, causing the field to string out after the first lap. Eric ran smoothly in the back of the front pack, with Tripp close by just a few places behind.  The field went through 3 laps in 3:00, at which point Eric was moving into 2nd place.  The leader of the field looked to have an insurmountable gap with 300m to go, but Eric had a huge kick from 200m out and closed the gap with just a few meters to go.  He nearly passed the leader, but crossed the line right behind in 2nd place, breaking the 4:00 barrier with a fast time of 3:58.23.  Tripp had a similar strong and quick finish.  With one lap to go, he was still right at the tail end of that front pack, and started moving up one place at a time with about 150m left in the race.  Tripp finished in 10th place overall, with a time of 4:02.12—a new PR for him!
