Saturday marks the beginning of the 2012 track season. Team Run Eugene athlete Annie Beecham will debut in the women’s 3000m at the UW Dempsey Invitational at the University of Washington in Seattle. Beecham is part of a loaded field including 2011 World Championship 10k silver medalist,Sally Kipyego (Nike Oregon Track Club Elite), 2011 US 3000m steeplechase runner-up, Bridget Franek (Nike Oregon Track Club Elite), and NCAA Cross Country champion, Angela Bizzarri.
Saturday’s race is Beecham’s first track race since a successful 2011 collegiate campaign that included a 10k PR of 33:50 and an 11th place finish at the 2011 NCAA Track and Field Championships while at Ohio University.
